Photography at Kinsmen Park
By: Author: J Bakken
The world is full of beautiful places to photograph, but one of my favorite
places to photograph in Alberta is Kinsmen Park in Strathmore, just east of
Calgary. The opportunities are endless for the avid photographer: the trees,
the lake, the ducks, the people, and more. Every season holds its own beauty
and there are numerous opportunities for capturing some great photos in
spring, summer, fall, or winter.
Capturing the fall foliage is a favorite among nature enthusiasts and autumn
is definitely my favorite time of year to capture the beauty of this little
park. I have held numerous photo shoots at this park in September and
October when the leaves on the trees are brilliant in yellows, oranges, and
gold, and when the ground is covered in leaves that have already fallen.
Kinsmen Park is well known to the locals for its community activity
opportunities. For example, you can record some great shots while car shows
are held there or while the local school bands are performing within the
park. Other photographic opportunities include fishing or strolling around
the lake. Taking shots of the spraying water fountain in the middle of the
lake is guaranteed to yield some incredible photographs.
Taking photographs of an area such as Kinsmen Park makes one want to visit
it again, so the pictures can easily be used in marketing. Areas where they
could be used are billboards, brochures, travel magazines, and much more. The
town of Strathmore uses photographs of the park in their postcards, town
brochures, and magazines to entice people to visit and move here.
It is easy and enjoyable to take photographs of our favorite places, so the
next time you visit a new locale or one of your favorites, be sure to stop
and capture the beauty of the place with your camera. Then, you can revisit
it again and again each time you look at the photographs.
