Photography and Your Own BackYard
By: Author: J Bakken
The opportunities for photography in your own backyard are endless. You can
take pictures of flowers, your garden, patios, shrubs and hedges such as
lilacs, birds and birdhouses, trees, animals, and much more. Not to mention
the opportunities for capturing special moments spent with family and
friends outdoors.
The secret to capturing some brilliant photographs in your backyard is a
combination of lighting and being at the right angle. For example, you do
not want shadows showing up on your pictures, so pay attention to where you
stand when taking the photos. Also, if you want a close up of some of your
beautiful flowers as they are in full bloom, simply use the 'macro' close-up
button on your camera.
If you are wanting to get the best possible pictures of your garden in its
most brilliant state, use the 'foliage' setting on your camera if you have
it. Or if you want to capture some great shots of your son or daughter
running through the sprinkler on a summer day in your backyard, set your
camera setting on 'sports' or 'action' shots so they do not turn out blurry.
Again, taking pictures from different perspectives makes all the difference.
Try taking pictures of patios from up above, or pictures of flowers where
you focus on just half the flower. These various angles make for interesting
and unique photographs. Variety is the spice of life and we must remember
this in our photography. Get pictures of just your children's feet as they
run through the sprinkler or as they sit on the lounge chair on the patio
and soak up the sun. Pictures can speak volumes and ones such as these will
shout fun and frolic.
Finally, remember to have fun with your camera. These pictures represent
your home and family and, therefore, represent love. Capturing the simple
things in life with your digital or film camera reminds us to take time to
stop and smell the roses, and photograph them in your own backyard.
