Photography and Home Decorating
By: Author: J Bakken
The opportunities for photography for decorating your home are endless. You
can take pictures of flowers, your pets, your friends, your family, your
vacations, special occasions such as birthdays, and much more. Not to
mention the opportunities for capturing special moments spent with family
and friends during the holidays.
The secrets to capturing some brilliant photographs to display in your home
are being close enough and being at the right angle. For example, you do not
want to have the subject so small or far away in the picture that you can
hardly see them, so pay attention to where you stand when taking the photos.
Also, if you want some variety in your photos, photograph your subjects at
different angles: from up above, from down below, laying down, etc.
If you are wanting to get the best possible pictures for displaying in your
home, be picky. Snap more than just one picture so you have some to choose
from. Be sure to select the right setting on your camera, as well. For
example, if you want to capture some great shots of your son or daughter
running through the sprinkler on a summer day in your backyard, set your
camera setting on 'sports' or 'action' shots so they do not turn out blurry.
Again, taking pictures from different perspectives makes all the difference.
Try taking pictures of people or pets from up above, or pictures of flowers
where you focus on just half the flower. These various angles make for
interesting and unique photographs. Variety is the spice of life and we must
remember this in our photography. Get pictures of just your children's feet
as they are standing on the dock at your cabin at the lake during summer
holidays for a totally unique perspective. Pictures can speak volumes and
ones such as these will shout fun and frolic in your home.
You can decorate rooms in different themes with your photography, as well.
For example, you can do a frame that holds five photographs of flowers. Or,
if you are decorating your kitchen and dining room in a sunflower theme, for
example, you can buy some sunflowers at the florist and take pictures of
them, frame them, and you have an addition to your home decorating theme.
Finally, remember to have fun with your camera and with your photographs.
These pictures represent your home and family and, therefore, represent
love. Capturing the simple things in life with your digital or film camera
reminds us to take time to stop and smell the roses, and photograph and
display them in creative ways.
