Lavender Lupines
By: Author: J Bakken
During a visit to the Maritimes in July, 2005, I quickly fell in love with
all the lupines growing wildly along the roads and by the ocean. They are
just one of the many reasons I enjoyed the scenic beauty of Canada's East
Coast. We would be driving along and then a burst of pink, lavender, and
deep purple lupines would be waving in the wind beckoning us to stop and
enjoy their beauty. That we did...immensely!
They were everywhere...in Nova Scotia, in New Brunswick, and in Prince
Edward Island. They were brilliant and I captured many close up photographs
of them. Sometimes the backdrop would be a field, sometimes it was red sand,
and sometimes it was a rocky coastline with a small fishing boat tied up.
The lupines were not the only flower growing wild and free in the Maritime
provinces. My mom fell in love with all the rosebushes growing
everywhere...along the road as we drove, near a museum that we stopped to
visit, or by on the road to a lighthouse.
The Maritimes has a great deal of natural beauty, especially the flowers of
every hue growing wild for all to enjoy (and photograph).
