Holiday Photography
By: Author: J Bakken
One of the most popular subjects of photography are the holidays. This is
not surprising as they are full of time spent with family and friends. They
are often the most anticipated time of the year and we want to capture
photographs of them to hold onto fond memories. Photographs are one way we
can attempt to make time stand still and capture a time of life that is so
precious.
Some photography ideas for taking pictures during the holidays include:
using a combination of black and white, sepia, and colour photographs. They
all yield different results and represent different feelings and moods. For
example, pictures of the family in front of the tree in black and white is
popular for the annual Christmas photo greeting card, while a color
photograph of a baby in a Santa hat perched in front of the tree reflects a
totally different feeling.
Using props is another popular tip for holiday photography. Popular props
include: pumpkins in the fall at Thanksgiving or Halloween, red and white
Santa hats or a horse drawn sleigh at Christmas, or a basket of Easter eggs
is a popular springtime prop to use at Easter.
Holiday photography is a popular time to get the family together and take
family photos. Popular family photos include the fall scenery at
Thanksgiving and these colourful photos are often used for the annual
Christmas card. Great outdoor winter photographs are often obtained at
Christmas with the snow, trees, etc. used as a backdrop.
Taking pictures of family, friends, and pets during the different holiday
seasons throughout the year is especially popular and these photos make for
great greeting cards, birth announcements, thank you cards, and more.
Holiday photography is something that can be done in the comfort of your own
home, in your own backyard, at a park or natural setting, or at a
professional studio. Holiday photography is something even the novice
photographer or the most experienced photographer can do and meet with
success. It is hard not to capture some beautiful shots when you have such
fond memories to associate with them.
