Gifts of Nature
By: Author: J Bakken
Whether it's a colourful sunset, a tranquil river that reflects a mountain,
or a ditch full of cattails, nature provides us gifts every day. Untie the
ribbons and be rejuvenated! It could be the sight of a crop of wheat blowing
in the gentle breeze that makes us stop and appreciate the farmers. It may
be the cattails along a lake or in a ditch that makes us remember our
childhoods growing up on the farm seeing them daily. It could be the sun
setting on a river that is so unique it makes one think it is the first time
they've ever seen the sun set. Whatever it is around us, stop and take the
time to enjoy the sights.
It could be the hoar frost on the trees on an early winter morning, or the
reflection of the trees in a lake as a family of ducks swim by that catches
the eye of a keen photographer. Whatever the season; spring, summer, fall,
or winter, nature is offering us her beauty if we only take the time to see
it and savour it with a photograph. Only then can the beauty be captured and
shared with those around us.
These miracles of nature can be photographed and scrapbooked and made into
memories to be cherished. Or, they could be made into greeting cards and
shared with friends, families, and strangers who all appreciate the beauty
of nature and a friendly greeting in the mail. Perhaps they are part of a
calendar, or a brochure, or a even a book and sold, ensuring someone's
livelihood.
Whatever the season, nature offers us her beauty and we should see with our
eyes, smell it with our noses, hear it with our ears, feel it with our
fingers, and taste it with our tongues. We should soak in and relish in the
glory of nature.
