Expressive Photography: Innocence
By: Author: J Bakken
Every picture tells a story. Photographs reveal a great deal to the viewer
and they can be interpreted differently by individuals. When photographs
feature people they often display a variety of emotions ranging from
happiness to loneliness and every possible feeling in between. Capturing
'innocence' in a photograph takes the right photographer, the right subject
(human or animal), and the right setting.
When I think of my photography where I can capture innocence I daydream of
photographing my unborn child. I am due anyday and I think for hours on end
of all the photographs I will take of him or her and I know I will capture
the innocence and wonder that only a newborn child can hold.
The pictures in black and white of tiny little feet and tiny little hands,
and eyes gently closed as the baby sleeps could all be featured on greeting
cards, or in brochures and magazines. I know my little one will be oblivious
to the camera while I am snapping away.
Innocence involves being free from anything wrong and without guile, and to
capture that on film is gratifying and even if you only get one great shot
out of 36, you know you've got 'the one'and that's all that matters.
