Baby Photography

One of the most popular subjects of photography are babies. This is not surprising as they are full of innocence and wonder, and they are just so darn cute. They are often a parent's most anticipated dream come true and they want to capture photographs of them while they are so tiny and small, because they grow up so fast. Photographs are one way we can attempt to make time stand still and capture a time of life that is so precious.
Some photography ideas for taking pictures of babies include: using a combination of black and white, sepia, and colour photographs. They all yield different results and represent different feelings and moods. For example, pictures of babies feet and hands in black and white are very popular, while a color photograph of a baby with a teddy bear reflects a totally different feeling.
Using props is another popular tip for baby photography. Popular props include: teddy bears, flowers, baskets, towels, sports paraphenelia, and much more. Babies laying beside their new teddy bear, beside a gerbera daisy, or beside a football all tell a different story. A baby stacked on a pile of towels inside a basket is another unique idea that many parents or professional photographers try.
Baby photography can also include other members of the family, especially the new mom and dad. A popular pose is a dad with no shirt on, holding his naked baby next to him with the baby's bare bum sitting on the dad's arm. This is especially popular in black and white. For mom, a popular pose is the baby resting his or her head against mom's shoulder, so you get the baby's face with the side or back of mom's head in contrast. Older siblings often want to be a part of the photo session and anytime you can photograph a toddler kissing his new baby sister or brother's head is genius.
Taking pictures of babies during the different holiday seasons throughout the year is especially popular and these photos make for great greeting cards, birth announcements, thank you cards, and more. For example, pictures of babies sitting beside bright orange pumpkins are popular fall photos at Thanksgiving or Halloween. Babies with a red and white Santa hat on are often seen on Christmas greeting cards. Pictures of babies sitting inside an Easter basket surrounded by Easter eggs and bunnies is a common springtime Easter photo. These are just a few of the many ideas you can use when taking baby pictures during the holidays.
Baby photography is something that can be done in the comfort of your own home or at a professional studio. Baby photography is something even the novice photographer or the most experienced photographer can do and meet with success. It is hard not to capture some beautiful shots when you have such perfect subjects to photograph.
